Are you looking for free pics?

Are you looking for free pics?

While it's true that sometimes, you'll have to pay for high-quality or exclusive photos, in some cases, it's often possible to save some money by using free images on the Web. Although you can't find everything on these websites, they still offer a wide range of images and textures that you can use, which will save you money.

Printscreen Death to Stock Photos

After a couple of Web searches, I've ended up on their website when they were just starting up. I immediately loved the concept of subscribing to their newsletter and receive, once a month, an e-mail containing high quality photos, all in great resolution!

Finally, the site's founders were offering an alternative to websites that charge for stock photos (I'm looking at you Getty, Veer and istock...!). Even better that they offered clear terms of use compared to all the other websites that aren't always clear on what you can do with their pictures. Not to mention the cost of a photo can sometimes be mind-boggling, so having a free alternative is great!

Clearly my favourite!

Although you can't find everything you're looking for on the website, you can't deny the quality of the images available. This website also offers you a search bar to help you find what you need.

Printscreen Pexels

An image bank with lots of variety! You can also use a search engine browse through popular searches.

Printscreen VisualHunt

You'll find lots of pictures here!

After a couple of searches, you'll notice that they have a wide variety of photos to choose from and they're pretty high quality too!

Keep their website in your favourites.

Printscreen Gratisography

If you're looking for out-of-the-ordinary pictures, you're at the right place! This image bank offers often funny and original pictures.

printscreen picjumbo

They have an interesting array of pictures to choose from!

But beware, this image bank is linked to another one that you need to pay, so if you're looking for free images, make sure to take note if the desired image is free or not. The website is also full of ads, but it's nothing too annoying.

Printscreen Flickr

Finally, you can also look for pictures in Flickr (social network used to share pictures) : https://www.flickr.com/explore.

Just make sure you search properly and choose to filter by "Commercial use and modifications allowed" to be sure you can use them on your website. Also, be aware that not all images are high quality so be careful.

With these websites, you should be able to find something that suits your needs and won't be too expensive, but keep in mind that these are stock photos, so they're not perfect and have their limits. If you're looking for something really specific, you might have to either use a website who charges for their pictures or hire a professional photographer who'll take exactly what you're looking for, in your environment!

Hiring a photographer is especially useful if you need to sell a really specialized product you develop, show who's part of your team or if you want to showcase the special ambiance in your establishment.

Of course, there are lots more image banks that the ones we've linked here, so if the one you use isn't on this list, we'd love to hear about it!
